austin marathon 2008

Feb 16, 2008 - the drive to Austin was cloudy and rainy. We got to the convention center and picked up our race packets. The weather was nasty and cold. Allison had a cold. We checked in at the Hyatt and and went up to the room. We dropped off our things adn went to eat at Macaronni Grill and then stopped at Academy. We returned to the hotel and watched tv and went to bed. Feb 17, 2008 - up at 6am for the race. Walked to the start and waited for the gun. They had fireworks at the start. The course was very hilly, but perfect running weather. Allison finished the half in 2 hours and 24 minutes, dad finished in just under 5 hours for the full. We got showered and went to eat pizza at Home Slice Pizza on Congress Ave. Good pizza and a nice "local" atmosphere. Drove back to Houston/Galveston. **Next year we should stay at the Radisson instead of the Hyatt.
